The Interstate Mullet Toss Beach Party, Triathlon & Golf Classic

The Annual Interstate Mullet Toss at the Florida-Alabama border has been going on for over 30 years. What first started as a small mullet toss event at the Flora-Bama Lounge for kicks among friends has turned into a gigantic annual beach party that attracts tens of thousands from around the country. The party goes on all weekend with live music, food, drinks, dancing, and, of course, mullets (the fish, not the hair, although you might see some of that too). The party has been compared to an adult spring break. The event has also grown to include the Mullet Man Triathlon and the Mullet Swing Golf Classic. The Mullet Toss is always the last FULL weekend (Friday - Sunday) in April with Mullet Man Triathlon being the Saturday prior and the Mullet Swing the Wednesday prior. 

The Mullet Toss
The Flora-Bama mullet-tossing contest normally starts on Friday at noon and continues through Saturday and Sunday. There are prizes for winners up to third place in each division. Children as young as 1-year-old can participate and there's also a contest for seniors 70 and up. There is a small fee of $20 to enter the mullet toss and with that comes an event t-shirt, one toss, and we donate the money back to local charities in the community.Parking at Mullet Toss is free, but is very limited, so carpooling, taxis and ride share options are encouraged.​​​​​​​ The Flora-Bama Lounge describes the Interstate Mullet Toss as, "a big flash mob on the beach where a fish-throwing event breaks out". Mullet Man Triathlon
If throwing dead mullets across the state line just isn't strenuous enough for you, you can participate in the Mullet Man Triathlon, which has become an annual event that precedes the Flora-Bama Interstate Mullet Toss. The triathlon kicks off with a .25 mile swim in Ole River behind Flora-Bama Yacht Club, 16.5 mile bike ride, and 3.9 mile run​​​​​​​.  The race ends with a 4.2 mile run. Part of the proceeds from the triathlon go to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. The triathlon, as it's being held at the Flora-Bama, will naturally end with a great party. Mullet Swing Golf Classic
The Mullet Swing Golf classic takes place during the week before the Mullet Toss at the Peninsula Golf Club. There's nothing like bragging about getting first place in the golf classic while you drink a bushwacker and throw mullets with your friends. Part of the proceeds from the tournament go to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Brett-Robinson also offers discounted condo rental rates to Mullet Swing golfers.
