Gulf State Park: Gulf Shores Gem

Gulf State Park is a special state park with a lot to offer here in Gulf Shores. The park spans over 6,000 acres and has a number of things to do, along with a regular series of events that can help you get the most out of your experience when you stay at one of our Gulf Shores condos and Orange Beach rentals.

The Fishing Pier

Gulf State Park is perhaps best known for its fishing pier, which is the largest fishing pier in the Gulf of Mexico. The pier has an indoor concession area, tackle and gift shops, and it's also wheelchair accessible. Crabbing and fishing are both allowed.

The Golf Course

Gulf State Park is home to Refuge Golf Club, an 18 hole championship course that is open all week long, including weekends from 7am to 6 pm. There is a cafe and a proshop on-site. Clubs can be rented if you did not bring your own. Golfers and non-golfers alike can sit down and have a filling meal at The Refuge Grill.

Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails

In among the thousands of acres of Gulf State Park Alabama is some breathtaking scenery which can be viewed while hiking the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails. Totalling 7.8 miles, the trails will allow you to exercise, bird-watch , and even spot deer, bobcats, and alligators in their natural habitat.

Picnics & Pavilions

You can have a picnic off the shores of Lake Shelby under our covered pavilion after you are done hiking, biking, or fishing at Gulf State Park! The pavilion can also be rented out for special ocassions (please contact the park for more information at alapark.com/gulfstate/PicnicArea/. You can also visit our expansive Beach Pavilion for your picnic. The Beach Pavilion has concession stands and bathrooms, as well.

Available Facilities

If you are planning a big event at Gulf Shores, from a huge reunion to a business meeting to a wedding, there are a number of facilities where you can host your event. Rental facilities available at Gulf State Park include the Activities Building, the Lake Shelby Pavilion, and the Beach Pavilion.
