One of the best parts about the Gulf Shores is that there is no shortage of activities and places to go to keep your kids?and yourself?entertained, all without breaking the bank. Swimming or hanging out at one of the many public beaches is always an option, but if you ever find yourself thinking "What is there to do in Gulf Shores, Alabama?" there is no shortage of options!

It's finally not winter, and you can enjoy the spring warmth at one of the plenty free outdoor options. Waterfront Park is a popular Alabama attraction in Orange Beach located on Wolf Bay, and has a 400' fishing pier if you'd like to try your hand at catching your dinner (which you can then cook back at your condo!); a Lighted Kids Park where your kids can burn off any excess energy on the swings, climbing areas, and slides; a paved walking path for an afternoon stroll; and covered pavilions with seating, and picnic areas with grills for a great lunch out in the open.

The 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center includes over 250,000 acres of scenic waterways, woods and wetlands, and the opportunities for horseback riding, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and hiking are sure to keep your family busy for the day. You can retrace the route taken by naturalist William Batram in the 1770s when he explored the Delta, or check out the alligators, herons, and various shore birds as you pass the location of Civil War battles. On certain Sundays, the center hosts programs and demonstrations, including crabbing, coastal fishing, wildlife photography, fly-fishing, and more.

The Environmental Studies Center is perfect for nature-lovers to view animals native to southern Alabama in over 500 acres of woodlands. Explore the nature and hiking trails, or check out their weather station and STARLAB Planetarium, live animal exhibits?including an exhibit space with live reptiles, amphibians, and a salt-water aquarium?, or the native plant garden!

Some quick activities include playing in the fountain at the Eastern Shore Center, or browsing the Flea Market in Mobile, the largest flea market on the Gulf Coast. Take some beautiful pictures at the Mobile Botanical Gardens, or watch peanuts being prepared on a roaster that's over 90 years old at A&M Peanut Shop.

If you want to stay inside, you can head over to one of the many museums with free admission, such as the National Museum of Naval Aviation, the Gulf Shores Museum, the Mobile Museum of Art (free on Thursdays), the Mobile Carnival Museum, the History Museum of Mobile, or the Gulf Shores Museum.
