Gulf Shores Rainy Day Activities for Spring Break

More Info

On the few days in Gulf Shores when there are spring showers, there is still plenty to do during your Spring Break. Since your condo has a kitchen, you can stay in and cook up some new recipes, using fresh-caught seafood from Fresh Market Seafood, Gulf Shores Seafood, or any other number of shops, or head out to explore the area.

The Arts

Orange Beach Art Center, also known as the Coastal Arts Center, is a great place to take refuge from the rain: not only can you view hot glass and pottery demonstrations, but visitors can also make their own clay and fused glass items. For the less artistically inclined of the group, there are also plenty of items for purchase in the gift shop.

Museums

There are a number of museums and centers that are available in Gulf Shores for touring during Spring Break, and if you're looking to slow things down a bit for a day, then you definitely want to check them out. Some of these include the National Naval Aviation Museum, with 150 aircrafts and thousands of artifacts on display (and also where the Blue Angels practice); the Weeks Bay Interpretive Center, featuring live animal displays that showcase the coastal flora, and when the rain stops, you can head out to their boardwalks to see both Fish River and the other Week's Bay; Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center and IMAX Dome Theater, which includes hand-on science adventures, over 150 interactive exhibits that are fun no matter how old you are, and larger-than-life films in the IMAX dome; and the Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum, where you can learn about local, regional fishing and marine history, as well as Native American culture.

Games & Arcades

For a spot to play some games and have fun, you can choose from Laser Tag, bowling, arcades and more. Fat Daddy's Arcade boasts the best prizes in town, along with food perfect for arcade games, such as pizza, ice cream and more. The newest attraction is Arena the Next Level, where you can partake in Laser Tag and Bazooka Ball. Gulf Bowl is a great place if your group can't decide what they want to do, or if you want to be able to move from one activity to the next very easily: not only can you bowl and play Laser Tag in a multilevel arena, but there is also an adult pool table room, an arcade, giant TVs, a full service seafood restaurant, and a snack bar.

Shopping

For some Spring Break shopping in Gulf Shores, check out the Tanger Outlet Center with over 120 brand name and designer stores, or Pelican Place at Craft Farms for a combination of both local and national stores.
