GULF SHORES, AL (WALA) - Uber has been given the green light to come to a city on the Gulf Coast. This, after an ordinance was approved in Gulf Shores Monday that allows the company, and others alike to operate.

Although it’s what a lot of locals and visitors have been asking for, others aren't so sure about the ride-sharing company.

Calvin Bemis, owner of Beach Buggy Taxi Inc. told Fox 10 that he’s worried with ride-sharing companies like Uber and Lyft coming to the city, the requirements won’t be the same.

But according to Gulf Shores Spokesman Grant Brown, the council’s newly adopted ordinance will regulate how Transportation Network Companies do business in the city.
