Don’t Discount the Little Things on Your Summer Vacation

You know, I could spend an entire week (probably even longer, time permitting) on the beach with a good book and some cold drinks and be perfectly content. (Access to a pool is always nice, too.) I’ve spent many a simple vacation in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach doing just that.

But it’s those little extras that can really enhance the summer vacation experience—extras like some of the amenities found at several Brett/Robinson condos. My personal favorite condo amenity: lazy rivers, found at a few of the Phoenix condominiums. They’re fun when you’re a kid and relaxing/refreshing when you’re an adult, and they just add a little extra something to your Orange Beach vacation. And if you really want to enhance the lazy river experience (or you have kids and want something to ensure they are worn out at the end of the day), check out the lazy river with water slide at Phoenix West.

If it lets you get active, it’s another great amenity—like tennis courts. Sometimes I enjoy a good vigorous game of tennis as much as a round of golf. The tennis court at Phoenix IX is an especially cool facility: it’s indoors on the 12th floor with a spectacular view of Ole River and Ono Island, and it’s climate-controlled. Racquetball courts and basketball courts are also offered at several condos.

And there’s a lot to be said for the aesthetics of a place, making visual amenities equally as important. The tropical landscaping at Gulf Shores Surf & Racquet Club, the floor-to-ceiling windows at Phoenix East, and the gazebos found at several locations offer a certain amount of charm that really make the vacation worth it.
