December 6th

You don’t want to miss the Lighted Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration in Gulf Shores on Friday, December 6. The evening parade will begin at 6:30 pm and will feature festive lighted floats, as well as appearances from holiday characters and marching bands. Large crowds of spectators looking to bask in the holiday spirit are anticipated along Highway 59 as parade entries make their way from Gulf Shores Public Beach to Sims Park.

The magical atmosphere from the parade will roll continuously into the night as a Holiday Celebration at Sims Park will kick off immediately following the parade. Families can enjoy pictures with Santa, holiday treats, crafts, and the 5th Annual Snowball Drop. The Snowball Drop will feature a man-made blizzard as 4,000 ping pong balls will be dropped from above by Santa. Winning snowballs will have a number that correlates with a prize supplied by our generous sponsors.

Throughout December

Join us this December for Christmas magic all throughout The Park at OWA and Downtown OWA. From Activities with Santa and Mrs. Claus in The Park to photos with Santa in Downtown, we have it all. Don’t miss our nightly light shows, too! Our beautiful fountain on Lake OWA dances to holiday music, while our 36-foot tall tree twinkles in time with Christmas sounds.

All of OWA’s amazing events are happening weekends and various dates through Dec. 22. There’s so much to see and do, so check out our Calendar of Events (VisitOWA.com/Events) to stay up-to-date! Times and dates vary and are all weather dependent. Downtown OWA is open every day and is always free to enjoy! Admission charges vary.

December 8th

The Coastal Ballet Academy will present The Nutcracker on Sunday, December 8. Under the direction of Madame Rio Cordy, the ballet academy will bring this classic holiday ballet to life. This event will begin at 2 pm at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center, located at 1930 W 2nd Street.

Tickets for the show are $15 and will be available at the City Store box office or online. Space is limited. The box office is located at 1821 Gulf Shores Parkway and office hours are Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm and Saturday, 10 am – 3 pm.

December 14th

Enjoy a memorable free family holiday experience at LuLu’s Gulf Shores Annual Billy Claus and The LuLuBelles event the afternoon of Saturday, December 14, at 1 p.m.

Billy Claus is Santa’s warm weather-loving brother who lives in the Caribbean but comes this way to help Santa during the holiday season. The LuLuBelles is Billy’s fun version of Santa’s elves.

Billy will arrive in style and visit with the children to hear their wish list to pass on to Santa. Billy and the LuLuBelles will be available for photos with the children. In addition to kid’s arts and crafts activities, there will also be a reading of “Billy Claus and the Spirit of Christmas” children’s book written by Lucy Buffett.

Stick around to watch the Nautical Night of Lights at dusk, as the Lighted Boat Parade travels East down the Canal!

December 14th

The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber’s 34th Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade will take place on Saturday, December 14.

The Coastal Alabama Chamber of Commerce lighted boat parade takes off at about 5:30 pm from LuLu’s at Homeport Marina and finishes at Flora-Bama. More than 45 decorated vessels, including sailboats, charters and even a kayak or two, make this boat parade one of the largest in the Southeast. There are great viewing sites all along the Intracoastal Waterway, but for groups, the best spot is The Wharf at Orange Beach, adjacent to the convention center.
