Holiday Celebrations on the Gulf Are Set to Begin!
I couldn’t wait any longer: I put my Christmas decorations up this past Sunday. Depending on who you talk to, that’s either really early or a little late for holiday decorating. I know people who think it’s absurd to decorate any earlier than the first of December, whereas others break out the decorations immediately after Thanksgiving—or even earlier!
Now that everything is decorated, I’m on the lookout for holiday events. If I were back in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, I wouldn’t have to look very hard—the first of December marks the first of the area’s Christmas events. The City of Gulf Shores Christmas Open House is this Thursday, December 1st, at 6 p.m. Music, dancing, and a Mobile Symphony Brass Quintet performance are part of this event, and I hear Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for pictures.
The festivities continue this Saturday, December 3rd, with the Let it Snow event at 11 a.m. in Heritage Park—first a Christmas parade, followed by more live musical performances, arts and crafts in the Children’s Village, and some storytelling courtesy of Mrs. Claus. There will even be some snow to play in.
Then at 4 p.m. on Saturday is the 2nd Annual Christmas Parade and Beach Celebration, complete with floats, a lighting ceremony, and a celebration on the Gulf Shores Public Beach. ‘Tis the season for beach celebrations!
