The Great Egg Hunt: Your guide to Easter activities in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach
I love Easter. A time for bright pastels and chocolate bunnies, Easter has always been an important time to my family. Each year, we start with Sunday morning services, and then everyone gathers for Easter brunch and the family egg hunt. I used to paint hardboiled eggs with my children; now I paint with the help of my grandchildren. To the dismay of their mothers, we always end up getting food coloring on their Easter best.
Though we sometimes spend Easter in our Atlanta home, we often escape to the Alabama Gulf Coast to celebrate the holiday on the beach. If you find yourself in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach this Easter, mark your calendars for these eggs-cellent Easter activities. (That was bad, I know . . . I should leave the jokes to the comedians.)
Photos with the Easter Bunny at The Wharf
I always try to get photos of my grandkids with Santa every year. It’s no different with the Easter Bunny. Fortunately, Easter Bunny photo ops are being offered at The Wharf every Saturday in March.
Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
With their vibrant flowers and lush lawns, the picturesque Bellingrath Gardens are the perfect venue for an Easter egg hunt. Their annual egg hunt is scheduled for March 24 and will feature literally thousands of eggs.
Breakfast with the Bunny
Families can enjoy a special breakfast with the Easter Bunny on March 31 at 8 a.m. at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center. Tickets are just $5; children three and younger can participate for free. There will be an egg hunt, photo opportunities and a real, bushy-tailed bunny. I bet my grandkids would love it.
Easter Sunrise Service
Bellingrath Gardens and Home will also host a special sunrise service on Easter Day (April 1) at Live Oak Plaza. Offerings collected will benefit the Family Promise of Coastal Alabama, which aids homeless families.
LuLu’s Easter Egg Hunt
Every year, LuLu’s hosts an egg hunt on Easter Day. The hunts are separated by age, so every child has a fair opportunity to gather their eggs.
