Non-traditional beach games to play on your Christmas holiday

Now you have celebrated the holiday, you’ve given and opened gifts, and you find yourself in a beach condo for a few more days. That’s awesome!

Christmas holiday board gamesTake the new soccer ball or football down to the beach to stretch your legs. Or break in the new tennis racquet or golf equipment at one of the local courts or courses.

Or instead, since you are spending precious time together, plan some fun, family games to play indoors. There are so very many great board games and card games out there! I know my family will be enjoying a game night or two while on the coast.

A few of our favorites? Glad you asked. First of all, you can’t go wrong with a game of cards. They don’t take up much room in the suitcase for one thing. We usually get pretty serious about Rook or Uno, but Crazy Eights, Slapjack and Go Fish are always fun and can be played with a traditional pack of cards.

We have always loved a good game of Monopoly, and the newer version of Clue is fun for the whole family as well. We picked up a couple of new ones for the kids as Christmas gifts, so I’m excited to try Argh, the Pirate Game, and a steampunk game called Scythe looks interesting. I personally enjoy a good game of Scrabble, but my family gets tired of me beating them, so . . .

So chime in here. When you are at the beach to celebrate the holidays – or any time, for that matter! – what are your favorite family games to play?
