For kids under 12, the cost is $5 for a daily fishing permit or $11 for a weekly permit. But those are free with a paying adult.

If you decide to cast a line from the beach next to the pier, you will also need to buy a saltwater fishing license. Unless you are under 16 or over 65, that is. Folks those ages are exempt. Others pay $23 for an annual license. Again, there’s good news: You can purchase that license online. Area tackle shops will also be happy to sell you one.

For those taking a fishing trip, it’s even easier. Alabama charter boats provide your fishing license while you are onboard. Each boat purchases the license annually and it covers those who fish on the boat.
