Get in the holiday spirit and support community theater!
Do you like community theater? The communities of the Alabama Gulf Coast have a wonderful asset with the South Baldwin Community Theatre, located at 2022 W. 2nd St. in Gulf Shores.
For more than 40 years, this non-profit organization has brought the dramatic arts alive! For its holiday production this year, the Theatre presents “A Christmas Carol” with a little twist. Famous Christmas carols are used in the re-telling of the classic story.
Charles Dickens is one of my favorite authors, so I love “A Christmas Carol,” in all its forms. I mean, the book has been adapted multiple times in the movies, even as a Western and with Vanessa Williams in the lead Scrooge role.
So I am looking forward to seeing how this new arrangement presents all the classic characters we love: Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, the ghosts and, of course, Ebenezer Scrooge! It is the classic Christmas tale of redemption. You know the story. Scrooge, a bitter old miser, gets a Christmas eve visit from his old partner along with the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come! And, well, you probably know the rest …
Performances are Dec. 4-5 and Dec. 11-12 at 7:30 p.m., with matinees set at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students, which I think is a great deal for quality family entertainment!
Get in the holiday spirit (so to speak) while supporting community theater! What a wonderful way to kick off the season!
