Spend Halloween at the beach for spooktacular holiday!


Do you love Halloween? What’s not to love, right? Candy corn, jack o’ lanterns, haunted houses and adults dressing up in costume . . . It is the perfect holiday.

You know what makes it even better? Spending it in Orange Beach or Gulf Shores at a beachfront condo!

This year, Halloween is on a Saturday night, which makes it great for a weekend excursion!

A cornucopia of activities are taking place around the area to keep you frightfully entertained!

Want to take a scary ride through a haunted forest? The Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley hosts a Haunted Hay Ride from 6-10 p.m. on Oct. 23-24 and Oct. 30-31. Cost is $15.

The Relay for Life Trick or Trot is set for 3 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Participate in the 5K or fun run in your scariest or most outrageous Halloween costume!

If a mystery is more your style, “The Secret Case of Sherlock Holmes” is playing at the South Baldwin Community Theatre, 2022 W. 2nd St. in Gulf Shores.  Dates are Oct. 23-24 and Oct. 30-31, with Sunday matinees on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.

It’s not exactly scary, but the Original German Sausage Festival is something you don’t want to miss. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 31 in Elberta. Enjoy a taste of Elberta’s famous German sausage and sauerkraut, plus more than 200 arts and crafts booths, a carnival and more.

For the adults, a Halloween Costume Contest at the Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar starts at 9 p.m. on Oct. 31.

So whether you like your Halloween scary or fun (or a little of both), you have a bucket-full of events to enjoy at the beach!
