Enjoy a spooktacular Halloween at the beach!
I love Halloween! And if you are going to be in Orange Beach or Gulf Shores during the spookiest season of the year, the list of activities will keep you busy!
Getting things rolling is the Corpse Crawl on Oct. 17 at Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley. A zombie-filled obstacle course serves as a fundraiser for the Foley High cross-country team.
The Nature Preserve is also hosting a Haunted Hay Ride from 6 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31. Cost is $15 and it benefits environmental education at the preserve.
The Relay For Life Trick or Trot is set for 3 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Participate in the 5K or fun run in your scariest or most outrageous Halloween costume!
If you like a good mystery, “The Secret Case of Sherlock Holmes” is playing at the South Baldwin Community Theatre, 2022 W. 2nd St. in Gulf Shores. Dates are Oct. 23-24 and Oct. 30-31, with Sunday matinees on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.
The Original German Sausage Festival will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 31 in Elberta, just up the road. Enjoy a taste of Elberta’s famous German sausage and sauerkraut, plus more than 200 arts and crafts booths. Other scrumptious foods include German-style filled cabbage, potato salad, goulash, red beans & rice, hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn and peanuts. Kids love the carnival rides. And polka, German and country music is played throughout the day!
For the adults, the Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar will hold its annual costume contest starting at 9 p.m. on Oct. 31. Be creative and you have a chance to win cash and even a Mexico getaway!
So get a costume together and get out for a spooky good time on the coast!
