Plan now for a merry holiday season at the beach
Did you know it’s just 93 days until Christmas? You probably have one of those friends who starts the Christmas countdown on Facebook in February. I know. It’s annoying.
But if you want to spend the holidays at the beach, now is the time to make your plans. There are a lot of great things about spending the Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday (or both) in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach!
For one, by that time, Atlanta is already getting a little chilly and I can use some warm sun on my face.
Also, because it’s the off-season, you can enjoy great rates on beachfront condos!
If you’re planning a beach getaway for Thanksgiving, the Flora-Bama has a potluck dinner on Nov. 26!
You bring a covered dish and they provide the turkey and ham!
That’s also a great time to pick up some special Christmas gifts in one of the specialty shops you find at The Wharf, Pelican Place, Tanger Outlets, the Original Oyster House Boardwalk, SanRoc Cay and others.
The South Baldwin Community Theatre presents “A Christmas Carol” on Dec. 4-6 and Dec. 11-13. This theater company always does a great job with its productions, and the musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic will no doubt get even the most miserly Scrooge in the Christmas spirit!
Then there are the Christmas events that light up the coast. The Santa Drop at the Flora-Bama is Dec. 12, when ol’ St. Nick will parachute from an airplane and land on the beach.
The 30th Nautical Night of Lights Boat Parade cruises the Intracoastal Canal that same day, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at LuLu’s and going up to the Cobalt restaurant at Perdido Pass.
Earlier that day, Billy Claus (Santa’s brother) makes his annual visit to LuLu’s. The fun begins at 2 p.m. with live music, pictures with Billy Claus and the LuLuBelles, and plenty of arts and crafts to keep the youngsters happy!
This is just the tip of the iceberg, as it were, of the bag full of yuletide activities taking place, including special events at The Wharf and more! Stay tuned for more as the season gets closer, but book your condo now. The countdown begins!
