Getting ready for back to school? Do your shopping while on the Alabama Gulf Coast

My family always squeezes in an end-of-summer trip to Orange Beach or Gulf Shores, and you can, too. There is still plenty of time to book a trip! Save money with a great rate on your condo and make your way to the coast!

BR blog July 29 shopping

Haven’t started your back-to-school shopping? No problem! My wife hits the stores at Pelican Place just north of the Intracoastal Canal Bridge in Gulf Shores. Target, Books-A-Million and Bed, Bath & Beyond all carry a variety of school supplies, and other stores offer a good variety of great items!

The Tanger Outlet Center in Foley is another favorite place to pick up brand-name clothes at a bargain. Some of my wife’s favorites are Aeropostale, American Eagle, Eddie Bauer and Gap – and I always like Levi’s!

Need shoes? There are more than two dozen footwear stores. I may not know a lot about fashion, but I know names like Bass, Johnston & Murphy, Reebok, Rockport, Adidas, Hushpuppies and Clarks. And that’s just getting started.

Specialty stores there offer sunglasses, cell phones, knives, jewelry and – wait for it – gourmet goodies!

Don’t forget to consider The Wharf, SanRoc Cay, shops at the Original Oyster House Boardwalk and tons of other places to browse and buy!

While my wife, daughter and daughter-in-law are shopping, I can get in some surf fishing, watch a few beach sunsets, maybe play some golf. And there is no stress about getting ready for the school year. Ain’t life grand?
