‘Ring of Fire’ tells stories from our lives with Johnny Cash music
Do you love the music of Johnny Cash? I can listen for hours to the “man in black.” Whether it’s the songs he made famous, like “Walk the Line,” or him singing a hymn or modern rock, his voice resonates through the decades.
Starting June 5 and running through July 3, SummerTide Theatre presents “Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash” at the South Baldwin Community Theatre in Gulf Shores.
SummerTide Theatre is underwritten by The University of Alabama and has been bringing top-notch entertainment to the Coast for 11 years!
“Walk the Line” is described as a “crowd-pleasin’, foot-stompin’ musical about love and faith, struggle and success, and home and family” and features, of course, the music of Cash.
A Playbill review of the New York version of the show describes more of what it is NOT. “It is not a biography of The Man in Black.” “It’s not a concert.”
So what is it? Well, like me, you will have to buy your ticket to find out. But there is one certainty: If you love his music, you will love the show! Because those songs don’t just tell the story of his life. They tell the story of our lives, too.
