I have to say, I’m pretty proud of my Dad. This same man, who once claimed he
was so anti-technology that he would never even own a cell phone, is now willingly (and enthusiastically, I think) learning how to use the iPad that my Mom gave him for his birthday. He’s even using it to help plan and pack for their Gulf Shores & Orange Beach vacation coming up in a couple weeks (another part of his birthday present).
He called up the other day and asked about “that beach website” I’m apparently always talking about. Right Dad, that would be OrangeBeachToday.com—an excellent site when planning an Orange Beach vacation. One of my favorite pages is the calendar of events and the music and nightlife calendar, because there is always some sort of event going on day or night. The dropdown menu under “Explore Our Coast” is also useful. In particular, I think my parents would appreciate the cruises, museums and galleries, and history attractions pages. You can even pick an itinerary to help plan vacation activities.
So it’s really a big step for my Dad. Before he knows it, he’ll be checking out the website just for fun—the photo gallery and trivia pages are excellent distractions. Now to sell him on the idea of a smartphone…
